No More Ramblin' Adventures

Dear Finn & Hazel,

I'm so very sorry to hear that there won't be any more adventures for you at your Ramblin' club.

It's truly been a delight to see how much you both enjoyed being outside in nature. I know how devastated you must be to hear this sad news. (especially you Finn)

The memories of your time at Ramblin' will be with you for a lifetime...just like my girls and their beloved Sugarloaf.

Deaths of Two Great-Grandparents & Uncle Danny ~ My Mother's 88th Birthday

Dear Finn & Hazel,

I'm sorry that this post is so late...most of the events are in chronological order.

Things haven't been going very well. My sweet kitty cat, Holly, left this earth on Aug. 5, 2020. She had just turned 17 on May 5th, and then she went downhill fast. Losing Holly took a lot out of me...I miss her so much.

After being gone for exactly nine years, I moved back to Santa Cruz in Dec. 2020. (I left to move into my "Cabin in the Woods" in Dec. 2011.) No matter what the reason is for moving, it is a very stressful thing indeed. There are lots of memories in this city by the sea...

I hope you both are doing okay with distance learning. It must be hard not  being able to see your teachers in person, and I'm sure you miss your school friends. It's probably not easy on your parents either. I think about you often, remember I love you both with all my heart.

My beloved father, David Darrell Meacham passed away on Dec. 4, 2020. He was Lacie & Rebecca's Grandfather, and your Great-Grandfather. My Dad was 88 years old: Sept. 8, 1932 ~ Dec. 4, 2020  He will live on in my heart forever. I wrote about him when he turned 80...see below.

Less than two months later, his brother, Daniel Mark Meacham, died too, on Jan. 24, 2021. Danny was ten years younger than my Dad, (78) and he was his only sibling. There is a photo of my Uncle Danny when he was much younger on the post I wrote about my Dad. Nov. 30, 1942 ~ Jan. 24, 2021

May they both rest in peace...they are with their parents now. (my Grand-parents) Click on the link below:

On Jan. 24, 2021 Marcella Mae Salminen-Roth-Grangruth passed away. Marcy was my mother-in-law when I was married to Lacie & Rebecca's father, Micheal Roth. She was Lacie & Rebecca's paternal Grandmother, and your Great-Grandmother. She was 83 years old.

I wrote about your paternal Great-Grandfather Arvid Roth in 2014 when he passed away, and there are some photos of the Roth side of the family for you to see. Click on the link below:

Below is a more detailed account of Marcy's life, with a video tribute that shows lots of pictures, including Lacie as a baby, and of your Grampa Mike Roth. Lacie's name is spelled wrong in the obituary, but both of your names are spelled right.

Memories on the Wall

As I'm getting older, and walking more slowly now...
I've become a
shadow stretching out longer and longer behind my beloved girls...as they run ahead towards dreams that will become the realities they searched for.

I still hear the echoes of their childhood laughter wafting back to
me in the breeze. Years go by, and I fade away ...remembering those two silhouettes in the moonlight through the trees.

The tears roll when I go back *home* to a place where there are no more tiny daughter voices from down the hall.
Just pictures of memories on the wall...

Your Grandfather, Mike Roth, turns 60!!!!!!

Dear Finn & Hazel,
I met my husband, Micheal Arvid Roth, (your Grandfather) at a Country Western concert in the summer of 1982 in San Jose, CA. Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, and Merle Haggard were playing. The venue was called a "Day on the Green" because it was outside on the grass. I went with his sister Patti & her husband, Wayne Wirkkala. There were a few other people with us too. We brought beach towels to sit on, and I wore a bikini bathing suit, because it was such a hot day.
It was pretty much love at first sight for us...
Micheal and I got married wearing Country Western attire, in Monterey, CA 1983. I wore a "Gunney Sax" wedding dress, and Micheal wore a Western dress shirt & Cowboy boots. I thought you would like to see a few of photos of us when we got married, since we are your Grandparents. We were MUCH younger back then. Micheal and I eloped...how romantic! We spent our wedding night at a Victorian B & B with gables, right on the ocean in Pacific Grove, CA after taking pictures at Lover's Point ;-)

Once upon a time were happy, and very much in love...

Tooth Faerie Video of Fae Diddle Diddle & some Photos

Hi Hazel & Finn,
Your Mommy has a long history with the "Tooth Fairy". When Lacie & Rebecca were little girls living in Camino, I put their Tooth Fairy drawings that they had colored up on their bathroom mirror.
It's a little water damaged, but you can see that Lacie signed hers on the right hand side. When you turn it over there's a story. Maybe someday I'll be able to read it to you...
Colored by Lacie M. Roth
My middle sister Jan, is a dentist...she is Lacie & Rebecca's Aunt.
Dr. Jan Manning used to live in Santa Rosa, CA. She took good care of our teeth when we lived in Petaluma, and when we lived in Camino. (she lives in Michigan now)

Here is a photo collage that I made of me and her son, Greg. I babysat him while Jan and her husband, Mike Manning, went skiing up in Tahoe.

Valentine's Day with my Daughters

Dear Finn & Hazel,
Her favorite Perch
On Jan. 10th my oldest cat, Heidi, died in my arms while I was sitting on my Gramma Meacham's rocking chair. She would have turned 17 years old on March 26, 2016.

Rebecca and I got "Heidi" and "Misty" when we were living in Corralitos, CA. It seems like just yesterday when Rebecca, my Mother, and I went to go pick them up when they were kittens. (sadly, Misty died several years before Heidi)

Rebecca found our very first cat when we lived in Camino, CA and she named her "Lilly". Ever since we had her we've grown to love cats, and
after we tragically lost our beloved Lilly, she left us that legacy...
Farewell sweet kitty cat of mine...
Holly and I miss you very much :-(

Happy Birthday Mommy
_______________________________________________________________
I miss spending Valentine's Day with my daughters.
When my girls were little I always gave them each a card, chocolate, and those little heart shaped candies with words of love written on them. Sometimes I would include an age appropriate gift. They loved their little gifts so much that I continued to do it as they grew up. And I saved every single card & gift that they gave to me.
Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas are family holidays, so I drove them to my parents house. At their house is where we spent lots of time with my family. Memories of all the holidays we spent together at the home where I grew up are very precious to me.
Some of my Mom's beautiful Christmas decorations
On the other holidays, such as New Year's Eve, Halloween, Saint Patrick's Day, Valentine's Day, etc...we stayed home with just the three of us. I love you both with all my heart, and hope you have a Happy Valentine's Day.
Forever,
Your Gramma Lynn

Merry Christmas Finn & Hazel

To my dear Grandson Finn & sweet Granddaughter Hazel,
It snowed in Camino last night on Christmas Eve, so you had a white Christmas today at "Apple Abbey".
I deeply regret moving from our mountain home in Camino. If the move never happened...then you, your Mommy, and Rebecca, would all be spending Christmas in our house with me.
I'm so sorry about moving away from our home. There are many bitter sweet memories of us all living together in that old house, and I will cherish and treasure them forever...
Both of you are probably in bed by now, but I couldn't let the whole day and night go by without saying Merry Christmas to my Grandchildren.
I hope you had a Happy Halloween & Thanksgiving. My 59th birthday fell right on Thanksgiving this year. Next year I'll be 60 years old!!!!!! "I love you both very much...Merry Christmas Finn & Hazel."

A Wall of Silence for Five Years

Finn & Hazel,
Today it has been five years since I saw my daughter, Lacie (aka Laecee) in the courthouse hallway on Nov. 2, 2010 when she yelled"I DON'T WANT TO TALK TO YOU!" at me.
I never thought we would end up like this...not allowed to come over her house, not invited to her wedding, never meeting her husband Alex, (my son-in-law) and having the both of you withheld from me. (my own Grandchildren)
Today I'm taking down all the pictures of her, and packing them away in a box. Only shadows will be left on the walls...
I was very upset when Lacie chose not to move with me and her sister, Rebecca.
Rebecca suffered when she saw me in so much pain. I know she was in pain as well, from seeing what this did to us as a family.
Rebecca wanted a relationship with her sister, but she also knew how hurt I was...she was caught in the middle.
Eventually she got tired of being "the monkey in the middle". I'm so sorry to see how much all of this has hurt her.
My 59th birthday falls right on Thanksgiving this year...next year I'll be 60 years old ----> I'm Trying to Move On

New Offices in Santa Cruz for Fae Diddle Diddle ~ Happily Ever Laughter Parties

"The Hills Are Alive with the Sound of Music"
Hi Hazel & Finn,
Your Mommy's rapidly growing children's entertainment company, Happily Ever Laughter, moved to a much bigger office building in downtown Santa Cruz. I am SO PROUD of my daughter Lacie! (aka Laecee)
The "Queen of the Faeries" Fae Diddle Diddle (aka Fae Diddle Gershenson) now has new offices on the third floor of the historical three story building where the "Good Times" newspaper used to be.
It is called the "Hihn" building; which is an unique three-sided building with ample windows, balconies, natural light, tall double-door entrance, and spectacular views on both sides of the "L" shaped building.
The distinguishing 'turret' corner office/conference room offers a commanding 270 degree view. (Lacie's office)
The original building was destroyed in the Loma Prieta earthquake on October 17, 1989.
I remember exactly where we were when that earthquake hit. We were living in Petaluma, and Lacie was in the downstairs bathroom. She shouted "Mommy!" when our home started shaking, but I was in the upstairs bathroom giving her little sister, Rebecca, a bath. Lacie had just turned six, and Rebecca was only two years old at the time, so I couldn't leave her alone in the tub. The bathwater started making waves, and I grabbed Rebecca, and held on tight to the side of the bathtub. I doubt that Rebecca remembers anything about that day, but Lacie might. Love, Gramma Lynn
The old "Good Times"sign (upper-right)
One of the businesses on the ground floor is the "Pacific Cookie Company". I know you both love that place, and your Mommy does too. She says "The cookie store is the only thing that matters in life."
Lacie & her Faeries ~ "Second star to the Right and straight on 'til morning"

"Working on top of a cookie store creates too many problems. But then,
when I solve those problems. with cookies. does that mean I did a good
job at work?"
FAE DIDDLE DIDDLE !!!

"Life has never felt so surreal.
This year the Faeries went from a 1,600 square foot Tree House, to a
4,000 square foot penthouse that we took over from Good Times Santa
Cruz, looking over Downtown Santa Cruz. More room to spread our wings
*smile*!"
Lacie's new office has an AWESOME view of downtown Santa Cruz
